HOW WE MAKE OUR THROWS

TO DO A THROW

It all starts with the fine wool sheep, on our own farm and on other small farms around Sweden. The sheep are sheared and the wool is washed, carded and spun into yarn at a local spinning mill. In the studio at Larsmass, the yarn is then dyed with environmentally friendly pigments. The yarn is mounted on the loom and the weaving by hand begins. When the raw fabric is ready, it is steamed and brushed by hand, so that the unique softness and luster of the fine wool is highlighted. The last thing we do is hem the edges. Our blankets are made to survive both trends and frequent use. At Larsmass, we keep Swedish weaving traditions alive. We make timeless blankets from Swedish raw materials for those who share our view that quality takes time.

DECORATING WITH THROWS

A throw from Larsmass is one of the easiest ways to breathe new life into a room with beautiful colors and patterns. In the living room, they create a welcoming, cozy atmosphere, while a beautiful throw draped over the bed transforms the bedroom into a true sanctuary. It is a simple way to add color and personality to your interior by combining different shades and materials - pairing the throw with decorative cushions for a vibrant, curated look. And don’t forget the outdoors; a beautiful throw can make a real difference on the terrace or balcony, serving as both an inviting decorative touch and an invaluable companion on cooler evenings.

PROCESSED WITH CARE

A PURE PRODUCT

The pigments we use to dye the yarn do not contain environmentally hazardous metal compounds or other harmful substances and still produce brilliantly beautiful colors. The pigments have GOTS certification, which is an internationally recognized standard. It follows the entire production chain from harvesting raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, right up to the labeling of the finished product.

The goal is to give the consumer a credible guarantee of the origin and production of the textile, which fits well with our work at Larsmass to make conscious choices at every step - from the wool on the sheep to the finished blanket in your hands.

SO SOFT, SO SOFT...

Our only raw material is wool from Swedish Finull sheep. The wool is fine-fibered, lustrous, and slightly crimped. It comes in natural shades of white, brown, or black and is soft enough to be worn directly against the skin, even by those with sensitive skin.

In the autumn, we visit selected farms across Sweden to purchase wool directly from the sheep owners. What these farmers have in common is that they keep small-scale flocks with a focus on high standards of animal welfare. Healthy, well-cared-for sheep naturally produce high-quality wool.

WE WHO DO IT

Mix equal parts art history and craftsmanship. Season with a burning interest in wool, color, form and textile traditions. Then you have the foundation for what characterizes the operations of the farm weaving mill at Larsmass. We are united by the desire to refine and develop the completely unique raw material that is Swedish wool.

The weaving mill is located on the Larsmass farm in the village of Ytternuttö outside Östhammar in Roslagen and is run by Anna Eriksson. The farm has been inherited within the same family since the 17th century until Anna and Lars Eriksson bought it in 2016. The farm is called Larsmass after the farmer Lars Mattson who lived there from 1867-1934. The farm is also home to 28 of our own Finull ewes.
